Up on the Roof

Joan and I got to babysit Brody and Barrett tonight while Mike is recovering from his knee surgery. We had such a pleasant evening with the kids! First we ate a delicious supper cooked by Joan. Then we all four went on a 2 mile walk in the cool of the evening. Brody got to decided which direction to go and we ate a couple of candy suckers on the way.

Once we arrived back at the house, Joan took Barrett inside and gave him his bath and put his pajamas on. Brody and I spent another 45 minutes playing basketball. We played 3 games of "Pig" - Brody shooting on his little short basket and I shot on the 10' regular basket. Brody ended up beating me just barely in the third game. He won the series 2 to 1.

Next Brody and I went upstairs and climbed out my office window to go up to the very top of the house to watch the sunset. I made sure Brody held on to my hand all the time except when I was taking his photo (see below.)

Brody had never been up on the top of our roof so he had a lot of questions. He wanted to see the sky while laying down on the roof...

He wanted to see if he could stop the turbine vents...

He wanted to look in the sky lights...

As the sun set, we went back inside and modified his PipeWorks jungle gym. Brody fell from the original version of the jungle gym and almost got a black eye along with the big scratch on his face. Then Joan gave Brody a bath, I brushed his teeth, told him a story about Aliens (E.T.) and I fell asleep on his bed.

Joan will be making pancakes in the morning! The kids are so much fun!!!

I have lots of memories from trips to the roof with you. I'm glad my kids get to enjoy those times with you too!

Thanks for taking care of them for us during/after the surgery. It was a HUGE help!
