Spring Break at River Legacy Park - Thursday

Thursday of Spring Break 2012 - I picked up Brody and Barrett and loaded our three bikes in the Durango.  I drove us to the north side of Arlington and River Legacy Park.
Barrett looked so tiny riding his little bike but he was ready for an adventure.  He has been riding without training wheels for a couple of months now.
Barrett was able to keep up with his big brother, Brody!
Our route took us alongside the Trinity River, through woods, over bridges, and through wetlands.
Barrett was really enjoying the freedom of riding on the bike path with no cars to worry about.
Brody kept the pace brisk as we passed each mile marker.
Brody did stop long enough to disturb each ant mound he passed.  He loved riding his bike into the fire ant mound just to see them get angry and attack his tire.  Then he would ride off smiling.
Suddenly Barrett became quite nervous about riding over bridges with water underneath, but he overcame his fear and rode over Hurricane Creek.
Hurricane creek dumps into the Trinity right here.
Barrett was proud to reach the 6 mile mark.  He wasn't a bit concerned the six mile trip back to the car!  He was concerned about lunch though - which was back at the car!
At 6.5 miles we decided we would turn around and head back to the car.Brody is giving a thumbs up about the bike ride and Barrett is trying to figure out how to make his thumbs go up.
We stopped for a refreshing drink of water and a bicyclist passed by telling us a bobcat was on the trail ahead of us.  The boys rode the rest of the way very close to me.
Brody took this picture of me!  See... I was there too!
We stopped for a picture under the Collins Street bridge.
On the way out we went around this puddle, but Brody led us right through it this time.
We did it!  Over 11.5 miles round trip!  Brody - 5, and Barrett - 3 years old.  No training wheels!

I still can't believe that Barrett (who makes me carry him from the car to the store) rode 13 miles on his bike!!!
