Joan, Brody (our two year old grandson), and I enjoyed the cool Fall weather by taking a little walk around the block. As we stepped off the driveway into the street Brody reached behind his back and grasped his other hand. He looked up at Joan and said "Hold my hand."
Joan smiled as he tried to hold his own hand behind his back and said, "No, Brody, you have to hold my hand to walk in the street." Later Joan told me (Steve) that it won't be long before Brody won't have to hold her hand walking down the street. She is already getting nostalgic about Brody growing up so fast.
The sun was setting over Lake Arlington so we couldn't go very far on our walk. Brody wanted to go to the park and slide but we showed him how much fun we could have kicking a pine cone up the street.
Each time I would kick the pine cone Brody would burst out with a loud giggle and run after it.
He was having so much fun he decided that he wanted to just sit on the curb for a while. So, we stopped and waited for him to be ready to move again. I guess we were so willing to wait because we didn't want the moment to go by so fast either.
The giggles, the smiles, the cool fall breeze, the pretty sunset, and a very pleasant feeling that is brought over you when you spend a quiet moment with people you love deeply.
We walked Brody on over to his house and went in for a few minutes so he could show us his new golf swing and his follow through. But it was his giggle that kept us there just a few minutes longer. I realized what Brody meant when he sat down on the curb and wanted to just stay there forever!

Mom
I know what you mean.....last night, I couldn't sleep thinking about how fast time has gone by, and in the same amount of time that we have lived in our house (it seems like yesterday that we bought it), McKenna can go to work for ChikFilA.....it will be her "pleasure". I just wish we could all do this all over again. Hasn't life been fun?
Those pictures made me cry! He's growing up so fast!!
