Street Curb Boating

Brody and I had a lot of fun at lunch when I returned from my trip to Washington DC. I looked out the window to see water flowing down the street on a sunny dry day. My first thought was a broken water pipe. We found the source quickly - the water was actually bubbling up from the curb!

We immediately called the city and they sent a truck out to begin the repairs. Brody loved watching the big truck and was ready for them to dig. They didn't actually dig until about 10 PM at night so Brody missed the excitement.

We actually created our own excitement by picking up a bunch of fallen pecans from the back yard and using them as curb boats. Once we let them go in the water they flowed quickly down the street to the storm drain. We followed one of our little boats all the way to the storm drain. Brody wouldn't go near the storm drain because he remembered the trauma of dropping his camera into a similar storm drain!

We had a lot of fun but by 11:30 PM they had the leak fixed and the water stopped pouring down the street. It was a shame I could not figure a way to get all that water on my yard!
